Sunshine On A Rainy Day

Woken by yet another series of thunderclaps and the relentlessly lashing rain, I groaned and rolled onto my back. Sleepily I gazed up at the window expecting to see the usual twilight of my early starts but detected otherwise. Despite the dense, gloom of the low cloud base, I immediately sensed something different about the quality of the light. As my befuddled brain scanned the sodden branches outside, it slowly dawned on me why that was—I had massively overslept!

Incredibly, as stiff and uncomfortable as I was I had slept like a baby all night and half the morning! One look at my watch confirmed this. Oh bollocks!

I leapt up and rushed in my boxers to the front door where a damp note from Kelsey was awaiting me on the floor:
